Missing People are the UK’s leading missing persons charity.
They offer 24-hour specialist support to those who are missing and at risk of being missing, as well as to their friends and relatives.
Founded in 1993 by Mary Asprey OBE and Janet Newman OBE, their services include a ‘Runaway Helpline’ for children and young people, a ‘Safe Call’ facility for those facing exploitation, campaigning and lobbying on behalf of missing people’s families, confidential advice and much more.
This series couldn’t be possible without their unwavering support - working with the producers and the families - to make sure this series tells these stories in full.
And if you need specialist support - Missing People’s Helpline is open 24-hours. You can dial 116-000 from anywhere in the UK.
The charity rely on fundraising and donations to keep offering their services - which many families featured in this series find invaluable. You can make a donation - click on the link below.
Locate International are a community interest group - set up to re-investigate long-term missing cases.
They’re made of ex-detectives, specialists, criminology students and volunteer investigators - harnessing the power of collaboration and a ‘hive-mind’ to bring fresh energy to investigations. They provide a no-cost service - feeding information to the relevant police force and providing additional support to the families of The Missing.
You can become a part of the Locate investigative team. From the launch of this series, you’ll be able to join their discussion forum - where you can share ideas, talk about the cases with specialists , and hear the direct requests for help from the teams running real case reviews.
In the last year, their team of 100 volunteers dedicated nearly 4,000 hours to case reviews. Now they want to expand, to over 500 volunteers on their programme.
You will have the opportunity to join their development programme for community investigators from February 2021.
Locate International have committed to exploring every case featured on this series - and we thank them for their commitment to researching and reviewing these cases.
